Councillor

Paul Adams

Paul Adams began his career as a machine tool engineer, spending two decades with the same company throughout the 1980s and 1990s, supplying motor vehicle parts to a global market and eventually progressing to Sales and Marketing Manager. In the early 2000s, he took on the challenge of running a distribution company specializing in time-critical procurement.

After a period of readjustment, Paul broadened his experience with Royal Mail before seizing an opportunity in Australia, where he worked with Sydney Council managing a portfolio of recreation facilities, with a strong focus on golf coaching and golf management. While there, he counts among his proudest achievements training two athletes to reach Open qualifying level and overseeing the South Sydney Special Olympics division, supporting athletes with intellectual disabilities.

Since returning to the UK, Paul has applied his skills in auditing and marketing for a range of major stakeholders. He has now lived in Farrington Gurney for 10 years and joined the Parish Council when he first started living in the village, but left due to working abroad. Though he sometimes finds that persuading others can be a challenge, Paul remains determined to make a difference wherever he can.

Behind the scenes, he credits his wife—an accountant with significant responsibilities—as both his greatest supporter and confidante, encouraging him to pursue his aspirations and community spirit.
