Particulate Matter Data

A request to monitor the air quality was raised regarding complaints of air pollution in Farrington Gurney - particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5, NO2). A Zephyr monitor was installed in 2026 at Sunnyside near Paulton Road then outside Gournay Court until November 2026.

The Farrington Gurney air quality monitoring initiative has revealed that local particulate pollution levels remain within legal limits. Following local complaints regarding air pollution, a Zephyr monitor was installed near Sunnyside to measure PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations from late April through August.

Key Data Insights

  • The monitoring at Farrington Gurney showed the pollutant concentrations for PM10 and PM2.5 were an average of 9 μg/m3 and 6 μg/m3 respectively during the monitoring period. The average concentrations are below the Government’s annual average objectives of 40 μg/m3 for PM10 and 20 μg/m3 for PM2.5. The data shows that the maximum 24-hour concentration for PM10 at Farrington Gurney was 29 μg/m3. The maximum 24-hour average concentration for PM10 was under the Government’s short-term objective of 50 μg/m3 of PM10.

     

    • The average NO2 concentration was 13 μg/m3 and was well below the Government Objectives annual objective of 40 μg/m3. There were also no exceedances of the hourly objective of 200 μg/m3.
