Local plan update

Housing plans for Farrington Gurney could see an increase

Plans for new housing in Farrington Gurney have taken a turn. While BaNES’ initial proposal for 500 new homes in the village has been withdrawn, a new mandate from central government has more than doubled housing targets. This means Farrington’s housing requirement is expected to rise from 18 homes to around 40.

To address local needs, a Housing Needs Assessment will take place early next year. Conducted by an independent firm, the survey will gather data on residents’ housing requirements, such as downsizing, upsizing, or accommodating family members or special needs. A strong response from villagers is crucial, as the results will shape Farrington Gurney’s future Neighbourhood Plan.

An update is expected after a BaNES planning meeting on 6 December. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and engaged in this process.
